Frequently Asked Questions
What makes Attucks Adams different?
Attucks Adams is a small company and serves smaller, private groups. Our tours are personalized to you. You'll have time to observe closely, use those observations to form questions, and even then, ask follow up questions. We start on time, move at a comfortable pace, and end on time so you're able to make your next appointment, meal, or flight.
When you book a private tour, that tour is yours. No one else will be on the tour. On the flip side, book a public tour and meet folks from around the DC region, nation, and the world!
We won’t rush you through the tour. There's a lot to see on Capitol Hill, at the monuments, and on the streets of DC’s neighborhoods. We think we've picked the best, most important parts to share with you.

How do we get there?
If you are traveling to Washington, DC from afar, compare flights from hundreds of sites on Kayak.
Once you have made it to DC, the easiest way to get to our tours is public transport.
For the U Street/Black Broadway tour, take the Green Line to Shaw-Howard U station. Walk one block north to T Street NW and make a right to 620 T Street NW (Howard Theatre).
The closest Metro station to the Pennsylvania Avenue tour is Judiciary Square. Use the 4th Street exit if available. Walk one block west towards 451 Indiana Ave NW (Lincoln Statue).
If you’re headed for Mount Pleasant, travel to the Columbia Road Metro station on the Green Line. Walk along Irving Street NW to 16th and make a right. We begin at 3160 16th Street NW (Mount Pleasant Library).
For the Capitol Hill Mornings or Library of Congress tours, ride the Metro subway to Capitol South Station (Orange, Blue, or Silver Line). For Capitol Hill tours, walk to Independence Ave SE and make a left towards Rayburn House Office Building. Then cross the street to the Capitol side and meet in front of the U.S. Botanic Garden, 100 Maryland Ave SW.
For the Library of Congress tour, walk from the Metro to Le Bon Cafe, 210 2nd Street SE. We will meet outside.
A another option for getting to all tours is Capital Bikeshare or other shared bicycles. The District has an extensive system of for-rent bicycles. There are dozens of docking stations all over the city, including near each of our tour sites.
What about the weather?
I hold tours during rain or shine, unless the weather posses a safety hazard (lightning, ice, tornado, etc). If a weather-related emergency arises, we’ll be in contact with the group to cancel, delay, or reschedule.
Our tours include long periods of standing and walking outdoors. Please wear comfortable and weather-appropriate footwear and clothing.
How can we connect if we aren’t in DC?
We still offer online experiences! These are lecture style programs that range from online versions of our tors to exploring key moment sin American history like the Great Migration or Emancipation. See what programs we’re offering here (link).
We also created a Patron page for this specific scenario. Become a member to receive monthly DC history posts, access to our very busy photo feed, and behind the scenes of tour creation. It’s a great way to support us from afar and learn something new each week! Attucks Adams on Patreon.
Also, feel free to check up on us via social media: Instagram. Facebook. Message, review, tag, and follow.
Do you accept other forms of payment?
Contact me to work out another form of payment. I'm flexible.
Are the tours private?
We offer a mix of public and private tours. Private tours afford the flexibility to seeing more of what you want in an intimate setting, on your schedule. Public tours offer a chance to meet visitors from all over the world, participating in a shared learning experience.
