Walk the streets & back alleys of Shaw and U Street neighborhoods and learn how murals, theatres, music venues, and memorials embrace the history of this amazing city. National Mall & Tidal Basin Memorials

On the first part of this tour, we’ll see an iconic palace for the 16th President and three very different memorials to U.S. American war veterans. Then, we’ll explore three leaders, three eras, and three approaches to American democracy.

What you'll see in the first half: The Lincoln Memorial, Vietnam Veterans Memorial, Korean War Memorial, the National World War II Memorial, the DC World War I Memorial, and more.

What you'll see on the second half: Memorials to Martin Luther King, Jr, Thomas Jefferson, Franklin Delano Roosevelt, and George Mason; Cherry Blossom trees (seasonal), and more.

Struggle & Triumph: Black HISTORY on Pennsylvania Ave

Washington, DC was dubbed Chocolate City due to being a major center of Black population, political leadership, culture, arts, and wealth. A big part of that story involves Pennsylvania avenue. 

Walk the Avenue and learn about the emancipation of enslaved DC residents, a grand march for the women's vote, the infamous Snow Riot, the evolution of Home Rule, local DC history, and much more. This tour focuses on the Black history of DC and the country as a whole!

Stops include Old City Hall, the National Council of Negro Women, National Archives (outside), FDR's original memorial, Newspaper Row, Freedom Plaza, the new World War I Memorial, and more.
