War Commemorations: Lincoln, Vietnam, Korean, and WWII

from 29.00

War Commemorations: Lincoln, Vietnam Veterans, Korean War, and World War II Memorials

Book this tour and you' will:

  • Learn how materials and design converge to tell a story at the Lincoln Memorial
  • Experience the complex simplicity of the moving Vietnam Veterans Memorial
  • See how we honor American and international veterans of the Korean War
  • Touch bas-relief panels that form a storyboard of World War II America

This tour will focus on each memorial as a unique interpretation of large scale violent conflict and loss; and at the Lincoln Memorial, we'll touch on how it has been used outside of the realm of memorialization; for protest, public gathering, and ceremony.

The tour begins at the Lincoln Memorial. Please meet at the Capital Bikeshare station [Google Maps] between the Lincoln Memorial and the Korean War Memorial. Look for a station with docks and matching red rental bikes. I'll be standing nearby. Call or text if we can't connect. 202-681-0046.
